Executive Women International Philadelphia Chapter is pleased to announce it is offering assistance to adults in the Delaware Valley community who are in transitional situations and are in need of financial aid to further their education in their career pursuit.  These awards are made possible through our Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Program.  The criteria to be usedransition (ASIST) Program.  The criteria to be used to pre-screen the candidates are as follows:

  • financial need
  • socially, physically and economically disadvantaged adults
  • heads of households with small children
  • displaced homemakers

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • utilize personal assessment and/or re-entry programs available through colleges, community agencies, service groups, or career professionals
  • clearly defined career goals and objectives
  • specify the educational requirements to attain the above goals and objectives

The recipients may select the career path of choice, and any assistance received is an award, not requiring repayment.  Awards will be distributed to educational providers by the Executive Women International Philadelphia Chapter in September.


Our winner of the 2006 ASIST:

Phyllis Johnson, our most deserving 2006 ASIST recipient, is currently attending Peirce College pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies. Maintaining an A average, Phyllis plans to graduate in the Fall of 2007. In addition to a busy family life and full-time employment with the School District of Philadelphia, Phyllis is actively involved as a student member with the Philadelphia Association of Paralegals, serving on the Pro Bono Committee.

With a strong commitment to her church, Phyllis also serves as Administrative Assistant to the Foreign Missions Department. Among Phyllis’ many goals is furthering the paralegal profession through increased community service and making a positive impact on her daughter’s and granddaughter‘s lives and on the lives of other non-traditional students.
